🎉 We’re Launching a Kickstarter!

We have some huge news to share: Reality Resort will be launching a Kickstarter campaign alongside the release of Episode 6! Our goal is to raise $30,000 to fund Episodes 7–10, with stretch goals to fund the rest of the season. If we are unable to reach these goals, then we will most likely have to cease production.

We know this is a big ask — but from the very beginning, Reality Resort has been a passion project first. The show has been funded almost entirely out of pocket, with modest support from YouTube revenue and Patreon. But animation is expensive. Every second you see on screen represents days worth of work from a small, dedicated team. While we've made it work so far, the quality, ambition and costs of the show are growing.

We’re committed to keeping Reality Resort episodes free to watch on YouTube. However, the algorithm favors quantity over quality, pushing frequent uploads and long watch times. High-quality animation struggles to compete on that playing field. Outside support is essential to keeping indie animation alive and we’re proud to be part of that fight. We've been able to hire up-and-coming artists and animators because of your support, and we want to continue creating opportunities for new talent in this uncertain industry.

Even if you can't back the campaign yourself, sharing it with your friends, family, and fellow fans would mean the world to us. We'll be announcing the campaign officially over the next few weeks leading up to Episode 6’s release. Reality Resort is built for you, the fans. It’s something to theorize about, to laugh and cry over, to get invested in — and we want to give you even more to love.

🎬 Production Updates

🔘 Episode 6 is well into production and is on track for a mid-to-late May release! We appreciate your patience. As previously stated, the Kickstarter campaign will launch alongside it.

🔘 Trailers for upcoming episodes will now become exclusive to Patreon, uploaded about 1–2 weeks before release. Paying members will get first access, but the trailer will be made public after 24 hours. Current episode trailers have been unlisted on our YouTube channel. (That said, Episode 6’s trailer will still be uploaded to YouTube as it will also be used to announce our Kickstarter campaign.)

🔘 Eviction Interviews will also become exclusive to Patreon starting with Episode 6. The first two interviews have been unlisted on our YouTube channel but will remain available for public viewing on Patreon. Moving forward, new ones will only be available to paying members.

🔘 Live Feed Clips have also been unlisted on our YouTube channel but will be re-uploaded as Shorts, Reels, and TikToks over the coming weeks. We still have two more full clips in the works that will be released soon; but after that, we don't plan to continue making regular Live Feed videos — at least for now.

🔘 You may have noticed some changes to our thumbnails recently — we’re thrilled to see the positive feedback! We’re always working to make our videos more appealing to new viewers and more engaging for longtime fans. You might also have spotted a new "ENG" tag on the thumbnails. That’s because we’re preparing for a big step: Reality Resort is getting Spanish dubs!

🔘 We’re excited to announce that we’re partnering with Likan Studios — known for their work on Disventure Camp, Helluva Boss, and The Amazing Digital Circus — to bring Reality Resort to a wider audience. The Spanish dubbed episodes will be uploaded to a brand new YouTube channel, The Reality Project - Español, once they're ready. They'll also be available on Patreon alongside the English versions.

Why all the changes?

We’ve realized that our bonus content — live feeds, interviews, and trailers — is really only enjoyed by our most dedicated super-fans (many of whom happen to be Patreon supporters). Therefore, the return on investment for producing this extra content simply isn’t sustainable for a self-funded project like ours right now.

Meanwhile, the way YouTube’s algorithm works has made it clear that posting too much supplemental content between episodes is actually hurting our channel's growth. Lower-performing videos bring down our analytics, making it harder for episodes to reach new audiences. Cleaning up the channel layout will help put the spotlight back where it belongs: on the episodes.

We know this news might be disappointing for some, so we truly apologize. We’re grateful for every single person who watches, shares, and supports Reality Resort. These decisions weren’t easy, but they are necessary to keep the show alive and thriving. We can’t continue to pour resources and time into bonus content that isn’t currently helping the show in return. (As a reminder, this bonus content is not essential to your viewing experience of Reality Resort — they are, as the name implies, supplemental videos)

We believe that by focusing on stronger, more exclusive perks for Patreon (like trailers, interviews, and potentially the return of Live Feeds down the line if the Kickstarter campaign is successful), we’ll be able to better sustain the show for the long haul. Thanks for sticking with us through these changes — and as always, for being part of this journey. We’re excited to keep bringing you more Reality Resort!
